Research shows women are most desirable to men when they are in their 20s. They also earn higher incomes than their male counterparts at this point in their life, and are at the age upheld as the embodiment of sex appeal and beauty. And like it or not, beauty is still one of women's greatest sources of power, even today.
Men are least desirable to women when they are in their 20s. Many 20-something women are dating guys in their thirties because this is the age when they start too look and act like a MAN, it's when they become more financially sec
ure and it's considered by most to be the sexiest decade in men's lives.
According to the data collected on OkCupid's dating website – Men between 22 and 30 compose nearly two-thirds of the male dating pool on the site. Since men date almost exclusively younger, then women 30 years and up, are now dealing with only a third of the men for possible mates. And no matter what he puts down as his minimum age requirement, “a 30-year-old man spends as much time messaging 18 and 19 year-olds as he does women his own age.”
What this means for those approaching the new decade is that single men feel excited and single women feel terrified.
And 40-year-olds, for both genders, are pretty much invisible to everyone younger. Hey, at least it evens out.
